Oxford and Cambridge Society of Canada Scholarship

All proceeds from the evening will go towards funding scholarships.

A tax receipt will be issued for the charitable portion of the ticket price.

THE HON. PETER MILLIKEN, P.C., O.C.

Peter Milliken (Wadham College, Oxford) is known to many as the recently retired Member of Parliament for Kingston and the Islands and former Speaker of the House of Commons.  What is perhaps less known is that fact that he also holds the distinction of being the longest-serving Speaker in Canadian history, having presided over four Parliaments during his 10 years in the Chair.  As Speaker, he made a number of precedent-setting decisions, as well as casting several tie-breaking votes.  In recognition of his service, Mr. Milliken was appointed this year as an Officer of the Order of Canada.  He is also a great friend to the Oxford and Cambridge Society of Toronto.  This past October, he took members of the Society on a behind-the-scenes tour of Parliament, and all agreed that he is a most knowledgeable and engaging Speaker and speaker.  Please join us as he reflects on his time in Oxford and in Office.
