Massey College Formal Hall including a talk by David Goldbloom, Senior Medical Advisor, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and Professor of Psychiatry, University of Toronto
November 16, 2016 @ 6:00 PM EST - 9:00 PM EST EST
Massey College in the University of Toronto has kindly agreed to host a fifth dinner for the Oxbridge Society, including a talk from Oxonian and Rhodes Scholar Dr. David Goldbloom. Dr. Goldbloom is one of Canada’s leading psychiatrists, known both for his empathy and effectiveness. He is Senior Medical Advisor at CAMH, the former Chair of the Mental Health Commission of Canada, and the author of over 100 scientific articles and chapters.
His new book, How Can I Help?, portrays a week in his life as he treats patients, talks with their families, trains staff and ruminates on the fragile state of mental health care. Dr. Goldbloom is a Senior Fellow of Massey College. He has been elected as a Distinguished Fellow of the Canadian Psychiatric Association and the American Psychiatric Association. In 2012, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. In 2014, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada.
This is your invitation to hear Dr. Goldbloom speak at Massey College at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, November 16th. Last year’s event was sold out, and those interested will want to register as soon as possible.
Massey College was founded on the model of Oxbridge colleges. The evening includes dinner with wine in the Massey College Hall and port and coffee afterwards. This is a special and unique event. Because of the kindness of Hugh Segal, the Master of Massey College, in agreeing to this, it is important to have a large turnout for what will be a memorable evening of reliving Oxbridge memories and learning more about this Oxbridge outpost here in Toronto.
Dress code: Business Attire – or better bring your gown, as this might be your only opportunity to wear it appropriately in Toronto.
Please set out any questions you may have for Dr. Goldbloom using the space provided when ordering tickets.
Organized by Ken McCarter for the Oxford and Cambridge Society of Toronto
